I enjoy creating photos that share my first impressions. Do you remember the first time you ate a chili pepper, watched an ocean sunrise, or listened to a live acoustic guitar. Nothing tastes so sweet as your first bite of chocolate, so tart as your first sip of lemonade. I take my first impressions and express them in photographs.

They can come colorful, saturated, and vibrant like graffiti on a wall. Or graceful and elegant like winter snow. When you sit for portraits I get my impressions of you, your family, or your business. These I can translate to photos that express character, mood, dedication, or commitment.

They're the world's eyes into you. Let the image always be fresh, let the laughter linger in the air, and give everyone an impression that will last long after you parted ways.

Canal Street Art Gallery exhibits and represents contemporary artists in all mediums and styles, offering a diverse and evolving exhibition program.

Working with a scope of artists from a range of career levels and backgrounds representative of the rich multitudes drawn to the Great Falls of the Connecticut River here in Rockingham, Vermont, the gallery brings an open space where all creative voices may be heard.

Canal Street Art Gallery was founded in March, 2017 as Ad Hoc Art Gallery by three artists: Garrison Buxton, Emmett S. Dunbar, and Michael C. Noyes, who saw a need for a centralized and active location for creating and sharing art in the Town of Rockingham, Vermont.  Rockingham includes the Villages of Bellows Falls, Saxtons River, Cambridgeport, and Bartonsville.

The Gallery is located in the Bellows Falls Downtown National Historic District, on the Mary Exner Block, which was restored in 2000.   The Block offers 10 artist Live/work spaces and 6 retail spaces, and is home to RAMP (Rockingham Arts & Museum Project) and Project Space 9, RAMP’s non-profit exhibition space.

“We hope to honor and be a part of the journey creative peoples have been taking in this place for many thousands of years, and to join in the modern efforts to create a free and open arts community here in Rockingham Vermont.”

“I work in the medium of glass and specialize in torchwork design and application.  Using hand-pulled canes of glass made specifically for each design, and a hand-held oxy-propane torch, I melt and shape the tips of the glass canes and apply them to the glass form being created, to achieve the desired design. It is best described as ‘Painting with Glass.’"
