Dr. Finneran will examine some of the factors that have contributed to the perfect storm of the current opioid crisis in our country and in our community. In addition to helping us understand how we’ve come to this critical point, he will also propose some suggestions to help us make our way through this complex, complicated epidemic.

SEVCA Offers Free Tax Preparation (VITA)

Income-eligible Windsor and Windham County residents can now schedule an appointment for free tax preparation assistance through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, offered by SEVCA in collaboration with Granite United Way. SEVCA has experienced, IRS-certified volunteers trained and ready to help area residents with household income up to $54,000 file their tax returns.

Appointments are available in Westminster starting January 29 through the second week in April. Here are the details.


Rockingham Free Library

Beginning January 9, Certified Wellness Coach Carol Jean Jones will lead a series of interactive presentations about Wellness at the Rockingham Library. The series will run for 4 consecutive Tuesdays of January (January 9, 16, 23, & 30) from 5 – 6 p.m.

Wellness can mean different things to different people. Carol will share healthy mind, body and spiritual practices that have helped others set obtainable goals and continue to maintain them.

Want to help your neighbors become more financially stable? Have a few hours free each week this winter? The United Way of Windham County is seeking volunteers to schedule appointments, greet participants and prepare tax returns for the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. To learn more about this engaging volunteer experience, come to a VITA Open House on Tuesday, November 14th at either noon OR 5pm at the United Way of Windham County's office, 1 Holstein Place in Brattleboro.
